Actually there are several delusion passages....

2 Thessalonians 2 11 For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie. 12 Then all who have not believed the truth but have taken pleasure in unrighteousness will be condemned.

Matthew 24:24  For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Mark 13:22 For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God's chosen ones.

Now the 2 Thess 2 passage starts off 9 The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the power of Satan. He will use every kind of power, including miraculous signs, lying wonders, 10 and every type of evil to deceive....

So it does appear that 2 Thessalonians is tied into the other passages -- since they all point to "signs and wonders" that deceive.  The primary difference being that in 2 Thessalonians the source of the "power" is specifically spelled out as being from Satan.

Now, the way Matt and Mark passages read -- the elect may be deceived for a bit of time; but they will not remain totally deceived.

So the question becomes -- when will this type of deception come?

If it is the "Lawless One" -- then yes, most of us believe the rapture has already occurred....

But if it is "generic" false messiahs and prophets -- then it is possible the rapture has not occurred.

Now, I hear already people grumbling these are "false prophets and Messiahs" -- not  aliens  ....

I say -- yep that is correct -- but who says the supposed alien would not be a false prophet?

After all is that not one evolution theory -- where "life was seeded upon earth from other planets"?

What better way to "start a new religion" -- than for a alien to say .... "we brought life here a million years ago".....
