Oh. And eventually, as you are teaching, someone is going to ask about Satan. Oh thats easy he gets tormented forever and ever

It is a loaded question SK and tough to explain even with your take on "forever & ever" meaning Ages & ages. Would we understand this to mean the devil will be "burned/purified" in the fire of God for a very long time?? Also not much other way to interpret tormented other than tortured, so that makes it a harder sell.
Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the FALSE prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the FALSE prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.I just wanted to clarify the forever and ever bit. I do not say that this mean Ages and Ages. I say, it means ages of the ages. That is part of why we know the translators are "cheating": They add a conjunction "And" They drop the definite article "the" They drop the possessive "of" They use a word forever that is not the meaning of Aionios They use another word ever that is not the meaning of Aionios They use a concept that is meaningless - forever and ever - technically this is no longer than forever, but they know ages is used twice so they try to mimic the cadence. Effectively, they ignore the proper grammar and meaning altogether, in order to push their own theology. Compare the KJV with YTL: KJV - Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.YLT - Rev 20:10 and the Devil, who is leading them astray, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are the beast and the false prophet, and they shall be tormented day and night— to the ages of the ages.I know this seems really picky, but some people will try and use a single word to destroy the entirety of the beautiful truth of Restoration. Not that you were doing that mike - but I never know who will read this and start claiming that I said something I didn't say.
In regard to the eventual disposition of Satan - I have made no claim so far in this thread. But I am saying people will ask and you will want an answer. We also have not covered this word that is used for torment. Understanding this word better would give us better insight into these things. Perhaps those lessons are yet to come.

SK - Understand that there are so many who dont have 16+ years of study to 1 - regurgitate what you've learned and attempt(ed) to communicate here 2 - (and will) do precisely what I did. Not in an effort to refute Restoration but neither they nor I have taken the time (and at this point we may not really have it) to be able to expound and "convince" anyone further than them the first objection which may very well be...what happens to Satan in this "theory" you mean to tell me he goes to heaven too?
If anyone here is like me, a bottom liner we want to hear the big picture and have the details filled in. Now that doesnt make for great movie watching or even book reading but this isnt that. Many must be thinking what i just asked (not in my odd way of saying it) but what happens to the enemy of GOD! The cause of much of the strife in the world and our personal lives. Whether saved or not everyone knows the devil is in hell or people go to hell with the devil because they believe he and people belong there. Now we can try to get beyond any people going to hell, with Restoration and Gods amazing Grace and plan of salvation for all, but Satan? thats a tough order to fill. Not saying you are 'dodging it' and again I cant speak for everyone but if anyone is like me they want the hook. We may all be restored to God but how can you justify that of Satan? How do we respond to that question without having the audience laugh, walk away, hang up the phone etc.
make sense?
EDIT - i wanted to comment further on this
Cant someone say you doing exactly that with defining Forever as Ages? I mean when I consider "to the ages of the ages" my finite mind says WHOA! Thats a long long time! which basically equates to forever. I mean I'm not capable of understanding God enough to know that in His realm that time span could be a week/month/year, but certainly many like me will say Ages of the ages still means forever wont they? Anyone else disagree with that?

Playing "devil's advocate' eh mike? Hahaha. I couldn't resist...ok serious. Let me play the other side of the court... Is Satan and the fallen angels redeemable like us? Is their sin and rebellion used to fulfill God's plan no different than God using our sin and rebellion to fulfill His plan? There are very few verses that discuss the final destination of Satan & the fallen angels. However most of the bible is about the saving work of Christ and the redemption of mankind, so should we really be concerned about Satan and how God is going to deal with Him?

Mike, I am following you on that, though I have had other items of focus. I was planning on going back to reading the Ages section to be sure I am still confused, or am still just rolling with it or totally getting it. So much other stuff I am truly convinced to the point of major Holy Spirit conversion!
Last night in the wee hours I watched that video link in the Outerspace thread. At first I didnt want to watch it but about the 1:05:35 part of the video, the narrator is speaking out of Genesis, and Job... But here is what happened when the words of Genesis hit my ears: The blue is what my heart and mind said to me...(the Lord speaking?)
Gen: 1In the beginning God created the heavens(His spirtual realm) and the earth(the physical realm) (together ZION?). 2The earth was formless and void, and darkness(evil) was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. 3Then God said, “Let there be light” (righteousness); and there was light. 4God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light (good, righteousness) from the darkness (evil). 5God called the light day, and the darkness He called night.
1Thes 5: 4But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; 5for you are all sons of light and sons of day...
I know Genesis goes on to say there was evening and morning the first day. But Moses didnt write, it was dark and then light the first day...Also notice God did not call the darkness evil, but the light was good...But how can darkness be physically over the deep? what is the deep? All of a sudden there are the waters...Where do waters come in when it says the earth was void and formless? I also in just spelling this out it sure sounds like Body (earth) Soul (waters) and Spirit(light)....
For sure I had it last night that the fellow's argument for flat earth was because there was light before the sun wasnt created til ch 4 so how could there be light? and I say Righteousnesss!
SK already told us that God created the angels and evil!

mike , I thought it would create a shorter post if I did not quote your whole post. In regard to my pickiness:
My point in being picky was not to point out the actual meaning of the words - my point was to correct what you said that I taught. You said "even with your take on 'forever & ever' meaning Ages & ages." That is not my take. Someone else could come along and say, See SK doesn't know what he is talking about and therefore dismiss the rest of Restoration. I was not trying to make a new argument about the timeframes involved.
I don't expect that everyone will explain things the same way as me. They might not even agree with everything I brought forward. Dealing with Forever and ages:You say: "Cant someone say you doing exactly that with defining Forever as Ages? " My friend, the word is ages, the translators wrote forever. I am not defining forever as ages, they are defining ages as forever. Dealing with either way it is a long time:No disagreement there. It is an undefined amount of time would be better - but still, likely a long time. Is there a suggestion that people are not able to comprehend the difference between forever and a long time? There is a HUGE difference between them: One doesn't end - the other one does. We need to develop an age based mindset. Our previous mindset was: NOW --- FOREVER. But God is working in a set of ages, which is why He talks about them throughout scripture. Now - as to Satan:I brought up Satan because people will ask what happens to him. I have not made any comment one way or the other as to what happens to Satan. I am not dodging it anymore than I am dodging half a dozen other things that we have not talked about. If the readers of this thread wish me to expound upon this area, I will. When barbiosheepgirl asked about teaching advise, I advised that people will want an answer in this area. I did not provide an answer. As MikeTaft mentioned. The angels and satan are not in the same position that we as humans are in. The do not need to be "saved" by the blood of the lamb. They are called to and fulfill their purpose. The big picture:There are multiple people telling me that they would like the big picture. That they learn better that way. That is why I said that teaching this depends on the audience. Some people want the detail and tell me to slow down, others tell me to give them the big picture. At this point, each of you has the information you need to go any direction you want. If you want to present the overview - you have all the information you need. If the one point missing is what happens to Satan, then let's talk about that. So far it just hasn't come up.

Since this thing with aionios seems to be a stickler for some. I think it is important to point out that a lot of what I teach is unique. But the Ages thing? That is not unique to me. There are many, many studies available that will teach you on these words. Some studies will go one way and some the other. If nothing else, this proves that their is ambiguity. And therefore, if it is uncertain, Restoration makes it all make sense and ET and annihilation don't. I think the only reason there is ambiguity by the experts is because it hurts our cherished belief in ET if we are honest about the real meaning of these words. Even the same translations that use eternal or forever in some places, will use age and world in others. It is simply bad translating.
I used some very simple scriptural illustrations that I think proves the point, and don't require us to be scholars. This is not something you need to take my word on.
Decide for yourself. Look at the scripture. Can we have a forever that ends? Can we have a forever that hasn't started? Can we have plural forevers? Can we point to a particular forever ("This forever"). Because the bible talks about all of those. But they make complete sense when we realize the word means age and of an age.
I did a post on the ages and on aionios. But you don't need to trust me on it. I will continue to help us understand the ages. But we can also use other sources to help here.

This kind of analyzing helps me a lot. My brain simply does not do this or think like this. At least not with reading and keeping track/picking up so much detail. My short term memory and retention is terrible... However when someone else who is good at doing this and can explain the details, it helps a lot. I know it takes a lot of time. I usually go through reading these post several times and continue to pick up new details. Lots of good questions today

Well, perhaps I should look for new ways to help people understand these words.
Anyone have ideas on what would help?

Well, perhaps I should look for new ways to help people understand these words. Anyone have ideas on what would help? I think and this is just a general suggestion coming from experience, if anyone who is reading this or studying this and hasn't printed it off, they should. Reading and learning from a screen and reading and learning from print are very different from one another. A lot more is retained and easily absorbed when something is read and studied in print. More of our senses and emotions are engaged when reading from print rather than a screen. We can reference easier, mark off/highlight important details or areas of question, and take notes. The more certain senses are engaged together in learning, the more that is retained and understood. Just my two cents.

SK My apologies as I did not mean to sound as if i put words in your mouth. Being a bottom line type person even though you saidI heard
I realize you did not say nor mean to teach this. All of your posts are well written and clear but for ME (and perhaps others like me) we summarizes things when reading them once and draw conclusions. I suppose its why we read the bible over and over and over. We just dont catch everything on the first go around. HOWEVER - (preface - I am not saying you said this about me specifically) In no way shape or form am I trying to destroy the beauty of Restoration. Even though I may have translated certain things into my own mind differently than what you actually said I did still understand the concept, big picture and message. Now onto this^^^again...I said I did not think you were dodging the question. In fact I have withheld many questions as I want you to be able to put the information out as you feel led to do so without getting sidetracked. However the question came up at this point and since you've indicated you were open to questions I posed it. I also do not think you provided much of answer to the question asked and as a reader of the thread I did ask you to expound on this area. Back to MikeT's response - I understand that angels are not redeemed as we are, but your point throughout this thread is that God restores All Things is it not? Am I wrong to think that the fallen angels would at some point be included in that line of thinking? I have to believe that if the character of God is to Restore All Things, All things = everything and that would include those who arent redeemed by His blood, unless "All things" means something different in the Greek (I am being purposely sarcastic here, hopefully it is taken as a bit of sarcastic humor) I fully understand and appreciate if you don't have a well studied response to this, I certainly dont and cant pretend I can provide one at this time either. Maybe scripture just isnt clear enough to draw any conclusion on the matter. Maybe when one of the ages is completed, we will see "part Deux" or three or four of the plan for reconciliation.

mike , All is fine and no apology was required. I wasn't offended by you accidentally misquoting me. I simply wanted it on the record so that other people wouldn't think that's what I said . I also totally knew that you weren't trying to take anything away from restoration, I just have had the experience before when other people think I believed a certain thing used that against me even though I don't believe that thing. That was the only reason I wanted to correct the wording. I was considering what some future reader would say. I wasn't concerned about what you were saying. I also completely understood that you did not think I was dodging anything. What is interesting is, I did not perceive that you were asking for an answer about Satan. I simply thought you were posting some of your own statements and maybe some rhetorical questions. Now, having seen that you were actually asking a question about the disposition of Satan I will certainly cover it . Considering how often it comes up with people, I have definitely formed my opinion on the matter. Thanks for your clarification and thanks for your apology even though I wasn't offended by you. I'll see if I can deal with Satan and the angels later today.

By the way, all. If any of you have been withholding questions, just to be clear, I have finished this thread as far as the content I had in mind.
There are areas I could still cover, but I do not intend to cover them unless asked. (I'll cover Satan at this point.) This is your thread, to ask whatever questions you have. This may provoke more in depth answers on my part, or it may result in quick answers.
Have at it!
