Warning! Math terms!
The central limit theorem (CLT) is a statistical theory that states that given a sufficiently large sample size from a population with a finite level of variance, the mean of all samples from the same population will be approximately equal to the mean of the population.
The hexstat is a modern version of the Galton box invented by Sir Francis Galton in 1894.
256 balls fall down 9 levels of branching paths and always end up in the same distribution. Each ball has a 50/50 chance of following each branch such that the balls are distributed at the bottom by the mathematical binomial distribution. This shows how random processes gather around the mean. In this case, the binomial distribution seen here would approximate the normal distribution if the number of final bins were greatly increased. In addition, the number of balls in each bin can be predicted by Pascal's triangle.
Now, the application!
In simpler terms this theorem states that without an outside force to effect the balls falling, they will naturally gravitate towards the middle/mean and away from the edges/extremes.
We can see this applied in the lives of the world!
Without an outside force acting on our lives, we are naturally inclined to all live similar lives, or better put, we are inclined to take the wide path that leads to destruction.
Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
If we look at the hexstat and label the edges as Hot or Cold on either end and the middle as lukewarm, we can see that many balls/people end up in the middle. Wide is the gate to destruction and many there be that find it. The edges are the narrow gate and few balls/people find it!
Revelation 3:16 "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth."
The gift of The Holy Spirit is the outside force that affects our 'fall' makes us hot or cold!
Acts 2:38 "And Peter said to them, o“Repent and pbe baptized every one of you qin the name of Jesus Christ rfor the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive sthe gift of the Holy Spirit."
