Good morning! I was recently reminded that I kept some information in an old file regarding the similarities between ancient Israel and the U.S. in regards to their foundings. I thought it was very interesting and I'm still wondering what to make of it. Is it possible that God brought the nation of the U.S. into existence as a type of Gentile or Christian version of Israel? I don't know quite what to think, but perhaps my brothers and sisters in Christ here at the forum can add some insight to the question. Here's what I had in my notes:
13 American Colonies: Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire.
13 Tribes of Israel: Simeon, Judah, Reuben, Dan, Ephraim, Gad, Manasseh, Naphtali, Zebulun, Asher, Benjamin, Issachar, Levi
The outline of the colonies and tribes has a roughly similar appearance on a map. I've attached a Word document to show the similarities, using a red pen to point out the interesting likeness. Maps of Israel and US.docx (270.95 KB)
Also, Washington, DC, and Jerusalem--the two respective capitals--are positioned in similar locations on the maps. I've placed a yellow mark where they are located.
The maps I've used in the document are from the following sources:

Interesting.
Also, Carolina, like Joseph, was split into two tribes. Also, these groups existed in colonies/tribes before being officially established. They both came out of bondage by the great hand of God. Crossing of the Delaware symbolic of crossing the Jordan? Benedict Arnold = Baalam? (His name, Benedict, means "to bless" George Washington, like Jesus, had no blood descendants but many adopted children, and many who were "called by his name" later. Moses had blood descendents, but his children diminished and were soon obscure within Israel-- similar to how Washington again had no ongoing family dynasty of celebrities and rulers. Israel was promised to eventually have much more land-- to the Euphrates, and all that the sole of Abraham's feet touched. The USA expanded greatly in territory over the years. The battle of Concord was a victory and route of biblical proportions, reminiscence of Purim in Esther's day. Washngton and Jefferson could be likened to David and Solomon-- the warrior and the philosopher. Washington DC was not built under Washington, it was left for Jefferson to be the first president in the new capitol-- like Solomon building the temple. The Civil War divided the nation- though it wasn't permanent as it was for Israel. In the recent days, idolatry and abortion have come in like idolatry and infant sacrifice did in Israel. In the end of Israel's days before Babylon came in, Israel had immense patriotic pride and took their national security for granted, in spite of their sins. Israel was intended to spread God's word to the heathen. Jonah and Nahum were missionary prophets to Nineveh. America has led the spearhead for evangelizing the world. The Declaration of Independence and Constitution can be considered covenants.
