Hey all,
We had a visioning workshop at my church today and I have been tasked with basically deciding what I want to use for a website. Since I am the one that will be uploading all the content, they felt I am the best for the job. Problem is I haven't done a website before. I update our current one but it needs a complete revamp, so I am starting from scratch. (Not scratch coding- my son is addicted to playing with scratch right now- lol)
So I am looking for some more advice. The techy person in our church recommended SquareSpace. Another couple recommended churchthemes.com which uses Wordpress. What would you recommend? I don't want to spend 1000s of hours putting a decent website together.
I would like to have a website that features audio clips. I realize now that I probably can't keep uploading a pdf of our weekly bulletin because it isn't really mobile friendly. We would like it to be mobile friendly. Basically, we want a website that better engages our congregation and showcases that our church is actually "alive" vs. the other type. If our website is user-friendly and up-to-date, perhaps we may be slightly more attractive to the under 50 crowd.
Any ideas or input would be great. What works and what doesn't? Thanks in advance for your input.

Squarespace is pretty easy and offers a lot. Anything Wordpress based is going to take a lot more time and usually ends with some form of coding to be used to get what you want. Wix is pretty good too. Both have a lot of options for imbedding, themes, and customization. If you are looking for seo ranking Wordpress is the best, but squarespace is pretty good.
