The spirit is catching!
I listened to this song right before going to pick up my kid from Mother's Day out. In the car, I was thinking about everything and the disasters coming on our country and planet. "Pray for repentance," popped into my head, and I knew it meant pray for people affected by these things to come to repentance. So I began to pray, except what I actually said in my prayer in my head was "teshuvah." This was not premeditated. It just came out. I said, "oh Lord, bring teshuvah!" As soon as I said it, it was like my spirit leaped inside of me. I nearly lost control of the car! My eyes welled up and I was shaking, but I had to get everything under control fast because I was driving. Whoa! It was like I got zapped by lightning. I've never had anything like that happen before. I think we're going to be learning or automatically know how to speak Hebrew very, very soon!

Well, I think God will need to give a booster shot of something in order for me to learn to speak Hebrew. I am pretty poor when it comes to learning any new language. Heck, even my English pronunciation is pretty bad - try to imagine me speaking any other language is laughable!

Not sure if this is the place to put this - but - I am so blessed to have found this group of believers. The Lord has provided you to me as a pure gift. I just wanted to make sure to say thank-you again - to each of you, while still on this side of redemption! Oh, and happy soon to be birthday! Love you all. This is a lovely place to put it, silentknight!

kjs and mike , if God wants us to speak Hebrew, we'll all come by it (super)naturally, lol. I've only recently began to have a strong desire to learn Hebrew (I'm currently not, so the few words I know are from reading Israeli news sources and other Jewish websites). When I realized that God hides meaning within the Hebrew text from the very letters to the words, all of the sudden I REALLY wanted to be able to read Hebrew. I feel like our churches fail at this terribly, if they even spend much time on Old Testament anyway. Derailing...

Yes if I had it to do all over again, I would have studied Hebrew from the time I was a child. So much opportunity is lost--just as Nathaniel Bowditch taught all his sailors to become navigators, even so, pastors should teach all their church members to be scholars. And certainly disciples.

So much opportunity is lost--just as Nathaniel Bowditch taught all his sailors to become navigators, even so, pastors should teach all their church members to be scholars. And certainly disciples. I agree. When my mom grew up they had Saturday School where they would go learn German. Those things are lost when you don't take the time to teach them. I am German/Ukrainian and I don't really know how to cook either cuisine or speak either language even though my grandparents on both sides learned English as a second language. It is hard to be learn to be discerning of scriptures and spend time in the word when you don't learn how to do so from your local church. Most churches don't even offer Sunday School separate from the service on Sunday morning because people are too busy for that. WHY ARE WE TOO BUSY FOR GOD!?!!?!?! It seriously baffles me the more I spend learning and serving my church that many are "too busy" to he involved. The front 2-3 rows of my church are always empty. No one will sit near the front. Makes me laugh when I think about it because when they are in heaven, who doesn't want to be right up front near the throne? God is awesome! He deserves us taking our relationships with him seriously! And we need to train others to do the same!

At least at my church we have a very active adult Sunday School program that is both interactive and educational in the Scriptures. We also have a very active Friday-night outreach program for reaching and discipling addicts and other life-crisis people. My church does better than average at teaching and reaching and one-anothering, I do believe. However. "Better than average" is comparing ourselves among ourselves (as multiple churches go), and I know we are way below the standard of what God set out for us in the Bible.
