I have been looking for a map that shows the current wildfires, then I remembered that my son was on Intellicast.com one time and found a filter for wildfires. The US and Canada are not the only places on fire. I can't find much info on world wide wildfires, but if intellicast is right, then much of the world is either on fire or under water or have the threat of either right now. ETA: Trying to add screenshots

I don't know if it's my iPad or what, but the screenshots you posted don't show anything. They just say: update your account for third party hosting " and give a website.
Or or do you not quite have it worked out yet?

That's weird...they were working for me earlier. I'll see if I can get it to work. I may need help from someone who knows something about loading images.

What I've done for screenshots sometimes, Natalie, is save them as a png and then add them to the post as an attachment. That has seemed so far to work pretty well. Maybe a possibility for you?

I know! When I zoomed out and saw Brazil, I think my mouth dropped open. And then I moved it over to see Africa, too. Unbelievable. That's why there should be some news reports somewhere about these fires. I just got back from church about 30 min ago and have been getting kids ready for bed, but now I am off to see what I can find.

Bingo! I finally found a source: www.nasa.gov/image-feature/goddard/2017/wildfires-besiege-several-states-in-brazilThis is about Brazil's fires: Wow! Along the left hand side of that link is related topics: "Central Africa Lights up with Hundreds of Fires" (23 days ago) "Temperatures Soar in Portugal and New Fires Break Out (a month ago) "NASA Sees Smoke, Fires, and Scarred Land in Kazakhstan" (2 months ago) "Hundreds of Fires in Northern Australia" (3 months ago) So, I'm assuming that these fires are still burning and are showing up on intellicast.com's filter.

Yeah, I played around with zooming in and out. When you zoom in, it looks like a whole bunch of little fires, but I'm sure it adds up. Plus it's hard to tell how big or little the fires are. Still, there are a lot of places dealing with fires right now.

I found one more interesting article. This is one about Africa from the NASA link above. "These fires may be intentional agricultural fires set by people to rid the area of left over crops to ready the land for the next season. The agricultural burning season usually runs from May through August in this part of the world. Another cause of at least some of these fires may be from lightning strikes or they may be intentionally lit fires which may have gotten out of control." So, I'm thinking that may be true from Madagascar. It would be interesting to recheck the maps in a month or two, if we are still here. And now it is time for me to sign off for the night.

And on the news... nothing about any of it at all. I've heard that the fires out west in the US are really bad right now. Looking at the map though (thanks for linking it), looks as if Brazil and Africa are much worse off than we are here. Fires everywhere!
