Thank you both.
Yardstick, his company says they have a service to help him with a resume and preparing for interviews, that sort of thing. I have heard of ziprecruiter and will pass that on.

When I was laid off, the company I worked for did this as well. I didnt find it extremely helpful as I really had no need for it. The Lord made a way where didnt seem to be a way

rt, thanks. He's working on putting together a resume and seeing what jobs are available in our area. He's put in an application for an electrician apprenticeship program which we both think he'd really enjoy. It would be a complete career change. His degree and experience is in meteorology, but there's not much in that field around here. We'd rather not move right now because of his parents; they both have health problems. I may also have to get a part time job, but we are hoping we can hold off on that for a bit. He's hoping that I won't have to, but well see. He's been able to do some work to help his dad out, so that's been nice for both of them. He's just been very frustrated at the way things were done. But, I think that this change might be really good. He traveled a lot with his previous job, so having him home every night and weekends would be nice.

So, still haven't heard anything about the electrician program. They were taking a bunch of applications at once, so he's thinking of calling and seeing how long the process takes. He's been so busy helping his dad lately that he hasn't gotten to that. He has been put in touch with a guy who works at the National Weather Service and is going up Sunday to shadow him for 4 hours and see what working there is like. However, the guy said that a lot of times they look for someone with a Master's degree. But, he's not sure he'd like the hours, and we would probably have to move. He's also not even sure they are hiring, but the guy said that shadowing him would be an experience the NWS would look for. A bunch of NWS people are going to be eligible for retirement in the near future, but again, we would have to move. So, this doesn't really seem like an option right now, but it puts him in contact with people and who knows what God will do. He also got contacted by one of the local TV stations. They are without a weekend weather guy. It could then also lead to a full time position. He's not sure he'd want to be on TV, but he's done quite a few interviews and isn't afraid of cameras and news people. He did TV weather back in college by it was for the campus station (and what feels like a lifetime ago). He's meeting this guy on Monday at 11. Thank you guys for praying. I know God's got something for him somewhere.

Wow, that would be pretty cool! I had no idea he did that line of work. Thank you for updating us.

He traveled a lot as an on-site meteorologist. He enjoyed it but was getting tired of the travel hassles and being gone a lot (about half the year). He got to go to some really neat places though.
He enjoyed seeing what they did at the NWS. The only problem being it's either 1 1/2 drive Northeast to one office or about 50 min west to the other one. They did say he could come back anytime, particularly if a winter storm is coming so he could see how they do warnings and forecasting that.

Update on things: Husband received his letter from the apprenticeship program today. He goes for the aptitude test on the 30th. It's a 3 hour test with lots of reading and math. Husband loves math (I joke with him that he has a calculator in his head), so he's not worried about it. He told me that he took a practice test and did well on it.
I guess I would ask you to pray that if my husband would be honoring God in this line of work that God would continue to make a way.
It's been nice having him home every night and weekend. I have also noticed a change in our middle son's behavior for the positive. It make so much of a difference having his dad home every evening.

Thanks Mike! He did take the test for the electrical apprenticeship, but he's not sure that's where he would like to go. After talking to some electricians he's not sure he's up to the physical work because he already has some back issues. So, he's currently doing some financial service stuff (which he really enjoys), and if he can get some momentum going on that he'd like to stick with it. Sometimes it just seems like a lot of waiting. Because he has been wise with money and also with some investing, he did tell me we have an emergency fund for a time like this. Not a huge amount, but we are doing ok, and he has time to get this going. I know not everyone is able to have that. So, I guess you can consider this answered. I do appreciate all the prayers. I think he's finally getting some peace about things. I know God has this and I am thankful for all who have prayed for us.

Awesome Natalie! The best part is that you both patiently prayed, waited and he actually enjoys what he is doing. That’s fantastic.
