I don't find what you do on Bible Hub. I find several commentaries that state it is animal skin, none that say it is human skin. (https://biblehub.com/commentaries/genesis/3-21.htm) As you mentioned, the word is used as both. Strong's definition says "Skin, hide, leather" The verses it is used in talk of human skin, goat's skin, the skin of the sacrifice, etc. So, interpretation could go either way, but... context...what keeps me from agreeing that He gave them human skin is that it says "garment" which means coat or tunic. We don't wear our human skin like a coat.

The present verse gives the traditional explanation of the origin of clothes. The word “coats” hardly represents the Hebrew so well as LXX χιτῶνας, and Lat. “tunicas,” cf. 2 Kings 1:8, Hebrews 11:37. The Heb. k’thôneth (= χιτῶν) was a kind of shirt without sleeves, reaching down to the knees.
To Mike's point, there had to be a time where God instructed them to give sacrifices. It makes sense that it was from the beginning. For without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin. The wages of sin are death, but it wasn't to be the death of Adam and Eve. There could be a substitute, just like there is for us.

I love Genesis BSG! It is the history of man kind as we relate to the Almighty God!
Is there any wonder all of the truth contained within is under attack in our times.
Isa 46:10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.' (I like the way the NIV says it, hover the verse above to compare)
Our entire history has been under attack in the last days. Completely opposing and trying to eradicate God's creation replacing it with the ideas of man.
1Cor 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
And what are those who wish to resist the Almighty doing in their wisdom (reading the below I had to post the whole thing, read and watch the news)

I've heard the idea before that Adam and Eve could have been clothed in light and then the light went out when they sinned which led them to realizing they were naked. Ayin further represents the primeval light, that is, the spiritual light of God mentioned in Gen. 1:3 (in distinction to celestial lights mentioned in Gen. 1:14-18). According to Jewish midrash, this divine light is far greater than the light that emanates from the sun and stars. I did not know where to place this posting and I hope this location is okay.
A few weeks ago I saw a circle burned into the top of a hand and inside the circle was the star of David. The branding rose up perhaps a quarter of an inch and then settled back down and was no longer visible. So I awoke from the dream and wondered if that was the mark of the beast which will be soon upon the world.
Today I walked into a cell phone store and guess what was on top of the hand of the young man (20) helping me. Yes!!! That satanic mark. It was a tattoo with bright red; and the lines of the star extended beyond the circle in a haphazardly constructed manner. In fact, as I looked at the star it was not a perfect rendition but somewhat sloppy constructed. Nevertheless, the satanic tattoo covered the entire top of his hand. Additionally, there were some type of Roman like numbers on the top of his fingers. This was the left hand.
On the right hand was some other symbol but different covering the top of his hand with an assortment of colors and sloppily done. Although, I did not think it was sloppy done but done to represent a tattoo in rebellion. You know; there were not clear sharp lines but demonically un-sharp lines to show rebellion.
Wow! So I continued with my conversation for a replacement phone for my daughter. The young man was quite nice so at a comfortable moment I inquired about the tattoos. He said it was a stupid thing to do and he would not discuss it.
To which I said that I was somewhat religious and understood if it was some type of religious thing. He became a little frigidity and uncomfortable so the conversation went another direction.
Then after I finished with the phone business I again called his attention to the right hand tattoo. Again, instantly, he said that he would not discuss it.
After I left I realized that he was in fact possessed with demons and it was they who got the tattoos placed upon his hands showing their allegiance to the devil.
I will pray for his release.
