So I saw in another thread a humorous discussion about our "member rank". It's pretty simplistic and just for a bit of fun and you get "leveled up" by posting As we've now grown to over 400 members it might be a good time to implement a new rank system with more than just 5 stars/ranks. So I'm soliciting suggestions for a new, permanent ranking system. If you would like to suggest a new system, please reply below. I'll take the best suggestions and create a poll that members can then vote on. Your suggestion can include either 5 or 10 ranks. You need to name each rank (appropriate humor is welcome) and the suggested number of posts to reach that rank in common increments (no less than 25 per rank). Generally speaking, higher ranks have increasingly higher increments to achieve. For reference, here is the current system: unsealed.boards.net/thread/8/member-rank-Gary

Is there a way to use word count instead of post count? Some people post only one or two words and others post volumes. A post count doesnt seem fair to the latter.
Other than that, the 'levels' should maybe be non-linear? that makes it more difficult to get higher? idk if thats a good idea or not. its just an idea. Example:
Whatever Post level name count 1 Layman - 50 2 Word Divider - 100 3 Truth Seeker -500 4 Watchman -1000 5 Mountain Mover -5000
Though looking at the member activity, its kinda slow here. So a higher count to level might not be accurate. Though a non-linear might still work
Using the 80/20 Rule, 20% of the posters posting 80% of the posts should be how to get a linear leveling distribution. Currently that gives theoretical values:
Total posts: 13922 Total members: 416
80% of posts = 11137
20% of members = 83
After counting on the page: 36 posters are posting ~80% of the posts
Therefore, since much fewer numbers of posters are posting the majority of the posts, a non-linear 'curve' for 'leveling up' should be in order. It should be 'easier' for less active posters to level up; and more difficult for very active posters to level up. This supports the idea of using a non-linear 'curve':
Whatever Post level name count
1 Layman - 10 2 Word Divider - 50 3 Truth Seeker - 100 4 Watchman - 500 5 Mountain Mover -1000
If using word count, instead of post count, multiply by 100
You could also take the total post count, divide by the number of days (average post count per day) and multiply by 100 to index everything, then keep a 0-1000 scale. But only if dynamic ranking by activity is important.

My personal vote is for it to stay the way it is. The jokes have all been in fun.

I do think the "Raptured" rank is awesome and we should have it at the top of the ranking--lots of fun there when someone gets "raptured!"

My personal vote is for it to stay the way it is. The jokes have all been in fun. I agree sawdy, lol! I hope me and you didn't seem genuinely upset. The post count, word count, "status" on this board... just that it isn't important to me at all! What is, is that I love coming here, reading, learning, sharing, and the fellowship with the Body of Christ! It is next to impossible to find it in the material and physical "world" that we live in. This place IS my church, my only communication and conversation with Brothers and Sisters in Christ who (and not trying to judge others); but people who are genuine, are excited about the Lord, are seeking Him, and who are all about HIM! Most other places, even physical church buildings... just that even there seems like it is not about following Jesus, but more about doctrine, denomination, and the very human rules of all of it (made up by man and added to The Bible, rule after rule after rule that "they" declare and if one doesn't ascribe to it the same "they" declares that whomever doesn't follow their rules or believe like they do, that they don't truly know Jesus and are not going to Heaven). This is the ONLY place I know of that is not like what I wrote above. And because of that, is very special to me. So, just call me Enoch! Truly, whatever "status" or no status at all, doesn't matter to me. Post count, word count, emoji count... none of that stuff matters. It's just "fun stuff". And I was just joking about it in that one thread and truly did not feel at all sad or slighted that other people are "raptured" and I am not. BOO HOO!!!
