I woke up at 1 last night wide awake. I was thinking about all the big earthquakes and how many we have had lately in a short amount of time. The verse that came to mind was the one about the Earth giving birth to its dead. And then we who are alive will join them. It sure seems like an increase in frequency and intensity of the contractions.

It sure seems like an increase in frequency and intensity of the contractions. Indeed. In the past 5 days we've seen at least 1 6+ each day, and one was a 7+. Many many high 4's and 5's today. I'm waiting for the daily 6 to hit yet today. This is very out of the ordinary.
EMSC reported 2 false alarms today in Mayotte. Not sure how that happens, but nothing from USGS was posted. I've been expecting Mayotte to heat up again.

This is an earthquake list I check. I have never seen it this high. 963 at 4.0 and above. It is usually 650s as far up as 815ish if there is a big one with lots of aftershocks. ds.iris.edu/seismon/eventlist/index.phtml
