Bears In 2015, I had a significant dream. It appeared as a flash dream—one that occurred in a very brief amount of time, even though events in the dream seemed to take a little longer than that. The dream was in the style of a Renaissance painting. I saw a throne, and upon it was a globular black vacuum, as if of antimatter—tangible nothingness. I heard a scornful, blasphemous voice, lamenting loudly, “God, what have you done to me?” Around the throne, animals approached from every side, each representing a country or nation. The animals advanced purposely as if they had been summoned. A confident bear, from the northeast, took the initiative and strode toward the throne, wearing a golden crown. Two weeks after this dream, Russian troops began combat in Syria. This dream began a surreal string of events that involved bears, that lasted for months. Some were dreams. My wife dreamed I shot a bear in our yard. She had only ever seen a bear once in the wild. As soon as she told me about the dream, she got on Facebook, and it popped up and told her that 7 years earlier she had posted about seeing the bear in the wild—right outside our window as we slept in a house up in the mountains during a family reunion. Another friend of mine in Charleston, who frequently has prophetic dreams, also dreamed of bears. Friends of mine reported seeing bears. And bears were in the news in a major way. Story after story of bears. Videos! A bear opening a car door. A lady doing yoga beside a lake when a bear came up from behind and licked her! A helmet cam video of a mountain biker riding hard down a mountain trail and colliding with a bear. A bear mauling a woman within a mile of finishing a marathon. A man in Japan fighting off an attacking bear by using martial arts. And finally, a biker who was killed by a grizzly in the Pacific northwest. Then last summer my wife and I went to North Carolina for our anniversary, and on the way back, we saw a big (very big) black bear dead by the side of the road. A man with a crane truck was picking it up to haul it off. I have noted that in the Bible, bears are practically never shown in a good light. Some animals are always shown in a good light, like sheep. Some are usually good, but occasionally bad, like oxen. Some are often good, often bad, like the lion and the goat. Some are almost always bad, but can be shown in (possibly) a good light, such as the snake (serpent) and wolf. Some seem to be neutral, like the camel. Some are practically always seen in a bad light, such as the dog, the pig, and the bear. Interstingly, these three animals in particular never seem to be used to describe one of the tribes of Israel, although many other animals are (donkey, lion, snake, wolf, etc.) As far as I can see, the pig, dog, and bear never, or nearly never, have a positive connotation. The one time I see a positive message involving bears is one that is clearly unfortunate for those involved—the passage in 2 Kings 2 where the youths taunt Elisha, calling him a bald-head, and 2 she-bears come out of the wood and slay 42 of the youth. This seems terrible, even “over-kill” as a punishment for the crime committed, but more was going on here. First, God was not going to have His prophet taunted. Secondly, it was prophetic. The two bears represented the 2 witnesses to come. The number 42 clearly alludes to the 42 months that these 2 witnesses will be upon the earth, and they have the power to destroy any who would come against them. That this event occurs immediately after Elijah’s “rapture” is also significant. Perhaps there will be those taunters who will tell the two witnesses to “Go up, like the others, and be gone from us.” 2Ki 2:23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 2Ki 2:24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them. 2Ki 2:25 And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
So now we have the account of two black bears killing a person each in Alaska within 2 days of each other. 2 bears, 2 people killed, in 2 days. Anybody notice the use of the number 2? The sign is more significant due to the scarcity of deaths due to black bear encounter. The other three kinds of bears found in Alaska are the usual culprits for human death-by-bear—the polar bear, brown bear/Kodiak bear, and the grizzly bear are the normal killers. Only 6 people are known to have been killed by black bears in Alaska in over 130 years. Coincidence? No. This is highly memorative of the occasion last year where the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds each lost a plane on the very same day—and both the number 6. Coincidence? Not on your life. Maybe two wings as an eagle, which were plucked off.
If the day of the lion is over, and the day of the bear is at hand, we should be very sober. "And they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh." See my discussion of Daniel 7 in another thread several months ago.

This text from Wikipedia tells about the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds loss: "2 June 2016 – Capt. Jeff "Kooch" Kuss, (Opposing Solo, Blue Angel No. 6), died just after takeoff while performing the Split-S maneuver in his F/A-18 Hornet during a practice run for The Great Tennessee Air Show in Smyrna, Tennessee. The Navy investigation found that Capt. Kuss performed the maneuver at too low of an altitude while failing to retard the throttle out of afterburner, causing him to fall too fast and recover at too low of an altitude. Capt. Kuss ejected, but his parachute was immediately engulfed in flames, causing him to fall to his death. Kuss' body was recovered multiple yards away from the crash site. The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. The investigation also cites weather and pilot fatigue as additional causes to the crash.[56] In a strange twist, Captain Kuss' fatal crash happened hours after the Blue Angels' fellow pilots in the United States Air Force Thunderbirds suffered a crash of their own following the United States Air Force Academy graduation ceremony earlier that day." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Angels"2 June 2016: Major Alex Turner, flying Thunderbird No. 6, crashed in a field near Colorado Springs, Colorado after performing a flyover at the United States Air Force Academy graduation ceremony. The F-16 pilot ejected and was unhurt.[20][21] In a strange twist, later that day, the Thunderbirds' fellow pilots in the Blue Angels suffered a fatal crash of their own." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Air_Force_ThunderbirdsInteresting points from the coincidence of the display teams: 1. Happened on the same day, when both teams had gone several years without losing an aircraft. 2. Both aircraft were # 6. 3. Blue Angels aircraft was lost at Smyrna, TN. Smyrna is a church in Revelation. 4. Thunderbirds A/C was lost during a flight in celebration of graduation at the Air Force Academy. (bad enough to lose the plane, but how embarrassing in front of the AF's alma mater). 5. Navy pilot killed, AF pilot survived unharmed. 6. President Obama was present and witnessed the Thunderbird crash. He spoke to the pilot afterward. 7. Shortly before that day, two vintage World War II warbird aircraft were lost in separate accidents--a P-47 Thunderbolt fighter (representing the Air Force) and a PBY Catalina patrol aircraft (representing the Navy). 8. Blue Angels pilot who was lost was actually a Marine Corps aviator. All three branches of service had losses that day. 9. The fourth branch of service, Army, lost 9 personnel in flooding in Texas that same week. 10. Green Berets on a training mission in the Rockies (Colorado, I think) became imperiled on a mountain and had to be rescued that same week. (highly embarrassing for Green Berets to have to be rescued, especially when not in combat). 11. The date the two display fighters were lost was 6-2-2016. Two (2) fighters were lost. Both (2) were Number # 6. One was an F-16 (2016). One was an F-18 (2+0+16=18). Letter F, standing for Fighter (F-16, F-18, etc.) is the 6th letter of the alphabet.

Wowww!!!! That is quite a story, watchmanjim! I noticed that the runner mentioned lions and leopards in the article, as well--the lion, the leopard, and the bear being all part of the description of the Beast in Revelation 13:1-2.

Yes, that jumped out at me too. Remember the other lion-bear-leopard passages are Daniel 7 and Hosea 13. Hosea I think points out some important distinctions.
There were more interesting things in the article too. . .

Yes, that's what the article says! He was 19 years old. I've always found the number 19 to do with trials, attacks, judgments, battles, torture, calamities, war, bloody carnage, woes, and bodily harm. See certain chapters in the Bible that are chapter 19, including Genesis, Revelation (Armageddon), Isaiah, John, and Judges. Among others.
