I was mulling over scenarios as I often do, and it dawned on me that the way ancient Jews reckoned time is a little different than modern western people. When speaking about days, many scholars observe that ancient Jews marked any part of a day as constituting the whole day. This is how the supporters of a Friday crucifixion find the 3 days: the Friday of the crucifixion is day 1, Saturday in the tomb day 2, and risen Sunday morning, day 3. I know there are serious criticisms of this view and it's not my intention to debate it, but just to point it out to illustrate how Jews reckon time for my next point related to when the 2000th year is since Jesus' ascension (hint: it's not the year of the 2000th anniversary).
I hold the view of a 33 AD crucifixion/resurrection/ascension. Based on a Jewish year running from fall to fall, that would mean that Jesus ascended in the year running from fall 32 AD to fall 33 AD. Now, if that is year 1, when is year 2000? It's NOT 2032/33, it's actually 2031/32!
So let me lay this out in logical fashion with IF/THEN statements so you can see my train of thought and why this might mean that we’re down to less than 2 years now before the rapture and tribulation:
IF Jesus ascended in 33 AD AND
IF Jesus plans to return in the 2000th year from his ascension AND
IF Jesus is going to return in conjunction with one of the fall feasts AND
IF we reckon the year from fall to fall starting at Feast of Trumpets
THEN Jesus would return in the fall of 2031
IF Jesus is returning in the fall of 2031
THEN the Tribulation would have to start in the fall of 2024 and the rapture would have to happen between now and the fall of 2024 (and if the rapture happened today we would have a gap of just over a year and a half)
Of course, if any of those IF statements is false, then the logic fails. Jesus might decide to return in the anniversary year which is actually the 2001st year. He might decide to return in the year after the anniversary year.
It's also possible that 33 AD is the wrong year for Jesus’ ascension (though the more I have studied this, the more convinced I am that 33 is the year). The alternatives to 33 AD are all earlier. If 32 AD is the right year, then you would have to back up all of this logic by a year and that would mean the tribulation has to start this fall, 2023, if the other assumptions are correct.
Just to drive home the point about the 2000th year, anyone who watches the Superbowl may remember that back in 2016 we had Superbowl 50 (I know, it’s been a while now). If you think that means that the first Superbowl was in 1966 you'd be wrong! It was 1967! The 50th Superbowl occurred near the 49th anniversary! Likewise, the 2000th year from Jesus ascension will be the year of the 1999th anniversary.
So I guess the point of all of this is that the rapture and tribulation would seem to be sooner than later. I think they're likely closer to today than they are to the end of 2026, the final year of the proposed final four years that have been discussed lately by watchmen.
An additional observation: The Revelation 12 sign happened right after Feast of Trumpets 2017 making it part of the Jewish year running from 2017/2018. The 7th year from that sign will be the year starting this fall: 2023/2024. We are currently in the 6th year of watching and waiting for our Lord's return since that sign appeared. It seems like it might make sense if we were to rapture right before the 7th year or sometime during the 7th year making it a year of rest, and that the tribulation would start at the beginning of the 8th year which is the first year of the next 7. I am not suggesting that this is the true shemitah cycle, but just counting the years from the Revelation 12 Sign which continues to seem like it was a major milestone in the approach of the end of the age. (I am not sure if we will know when the true shemitah is before the Lord returns). If the Tribulation did begin in the fall of 2024, it would end in the fall of 2031, potentially the 2000th year from Jesus’ ascension as described above.
2024 is also marked by the second American eclipse completing an X across the USA. It doesn’t seem like a stretch to interpret that as a sign of the end of America as leader of the world order. When America is removed as the world’s leading nation, that will allow the antichrist to step in and form his global kingdom, and it just might happen in 2024.
