I'm not questioning the sign of Revelation 12 and all its meaning. I'm trying to understand if there is a spin going on?
I watched a guy the other day presenting a case and warning that the Vatican may try to misuse scripture. He believed that if the Vatican was given authority over anything in the peace agreement that he would be trying to put out a narrative That this scripture applied to him/the Catholic Church.... 18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; ......25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. 26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: 27 and he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. 28 And I will give him the morning star. 29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Thereby saying that the scepter/rod of iron was given to 'them' by God. That sounds pretty crazy, but I will definitely be keeping my eyes open to put forth the truth of the Scriptures in that event

Catholics believe that the sign of the woman is Mary. Mary was a virgin. And then we say the woman represents Israel. The constellation is Virgo. ?? It seems to me that the woman is significant of dual fulfillments. We know Mary was a virgin, Jewish, and gave birth to our Lord Jesus at His first coming. We also see that the Bible in many prophetic passages describes Israel as a woman in labor, and these seem to refer to the future fulfillment. The fact that the Revelation 12:1-2 sign happens in the constellation Virgo seems to be a tie between the Lord's 1st coming and His return--the 1st picture being Mary and the virgin birth, the 2nd picture being Israel at the point of the start of Jacob's Trouble, which will end in their realization that Jesus is their Messiah.

Agreed. A wake up call, perhaps? You should put that on the prayer section. Good idea! Catholicism is basically the cult of the Queen of Heaven. There are far more churches named after Mary than after Jesus, which should tell you something isn't right about their religion. They call Mary the co-redeemer and pray to her all the time. I doubt Mary would want any of that attention...she would want all the glory to go to Jesus!

Pray for the spirit of pride to be removed, and that they see the Truth. They have been told that 'the church body" means the Catholic Church and that the pope is infallible and becomes Christ upon taking the sacrament. They can say words and attest to things that they don't even know what they mean or care because if the pope said it or the priest said it and it is enough for them. They've been taught the catechism and not the Bible. The Bible says in Amos 8 , that the word of God will disappear from them and it will not be found even though they look for it. I pray all the times for those that we love and appear to have good hearts, that they will come to the truth and salvation on this side of the tribulation...according to his will. I agree and I will be praying for this also!

I believe that God has given us his holy scripture, the 66 books of the bible, and these books are inspired by God. We should not add or take away from what God has given us. I know that the Catholics have more books that they consider holy scripture. I also realize that when the men who were inspired by God to pick which books should be considered inspired holy scripture, that God has directed these men into the truth of what books are the truly the inspired word of God. I am interested in your thoughts, plus information on the history of how this came to be. Why do the Catholics have more books?

I believe the constellation is primarily Israel (Bethula in Hebrew) but a secondary meaning of Mary. Don't forget Mary is an Israelite. She was the daughter of Israel chosen by God to bear Messiah. All these things are inter-related. To see the constellation as Mary is to only get part of the picture.

Findtruth, that is an excellent question, but maybe we should start a new thread about that. It is a great discussion to have.
