I find it interesting that Luke 17:22 talks about a desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man. I'm pretty sure that Jesus was referring to His second coming here, so more than one coming then !. The rapture of His bride and then the second coming to protect the Jewish remnant when they call upon the One they pierced.
Then He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23 And they will say to you,‘Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ Do not go after them or follow them. 24 For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day (Luke 17:22-24)
I am leaning towards the idea that the lightning being described in Luke 17 is different to the lightning in Matthew 24.
“Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together (Matt 24:26-28)
It seems to me that when the rapture happens the glorious and intense light of Christ will light up the whole earth to gather His bride from across the whole earth but when He returns at the end of the tribulation to protect the Jewish remnant the light of His coming is more directed and not global. The remnant will be in the wilderness (most likely Petra) and the Matthew passage even mentions the "desert" whilst the Luke account does not.
Either way Jesus is indeed the light of the world.
Many blessings David

Just my opinion, but the lightning is representative of how it works in the night sky. When lightning flashes, everyone can see it for a multitude of miles. The ref. means that when Christ comes, everyone will know just, as a lightning bolt can be seen for a multitude of miles, everyone will see Christ coming. It doesn't mean literal lightning or flashing of light. It'll be obvious. Just my opinion: Well, if you look at Rev 19, the words "after these things" appear in verse 1. What preceded Rev 19 was Babylon being destroyed. The marriage comes AFTER Babylon is destroyed per Rev 19 and what follows the marriage is the bowls in the feast that is made which his saints are invited to. That would put the believer and the Jew around - after the tribulation to which Jesus spoke to his followers (believers) and told them in Matt 24:29, immediately after the tribulation, they will see the son of man. If you look at Rev 14, the same picture happens. Babylon falls in verse 8, we are harvested in verse 15 and the wicked are destroyed in verse 19. John 11:24 states: So, when is the last day? For that is the day if we are dead or alive, we are changed. If there are 7 years or 42 months left (whatever you hold to)...that is not the last day. For the last day must precede the first day of the millennium reign of Christ to which we live and reign WITH him for 1k years. I do love your final thought: Amen to that. Jesus Christ is the light of the world.

So Venge do you see the Luke 17 and Matthew 24 "like lightning" events as the same or different ?

I see them as they same event. It will be noticeable by everyone just like a lightning flash is seen for miles. Even unbelieving Jews will see Him. Zec 2:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
