My favorite Hillbilly version. Jillian Welch has the Hillbilly eyes like my Grandmother from Kentucky, who we all won't mind seeing again. In the sky Lord in the sky. I was standing by the window On one cold and cloudy day When I saw the hearse come rolling For to take my Mother away Oh, will the circle be unbroken By and by, Lord, by and by There's a better home awaiting In the sky, Lord, in the sky Hey, Undertaker, hey, Undertaker Undertaker, please drive slow For that body you are holding Lord, I hate, I hate to see her go Oh, will the circle be unbroken By and by, Lord, by and by There's a better home awaiting In the sky, Lord, in the sky I went back home My home was lonesome Missed my mother, she was gone All my brothers, sister crying In our home so sad and alone Will the circle be unbroken By and by, Lord, by and by There's a better home awaiting In the sky, Lord, in the sky Well, I followed close behind her Tried to hold up and be brave But I could not hide my sorrow When they laid her in the grave Oh, will the circle be unbroken By and by, Lord, by and by There's a better home awaiting In the sky, Lord, in the sky Oh, will the circle be unbroken By and by, Lord, by and by There's a better home awaiting In the sky, Lord, in the sky In the sky, Lord, in the sky

"Till my raptured soul shall find, Rest beyond the river. - Blind Fanny Crosby 1869 Francis Crosby will shine several magnitudes greater in brightness than i will in the Kingdom of Heaven. She will shine like the stars of Heaven forever and ever. Known as the "Queen of Gospel Song Writers" and as the "Mother of modern congregational singing in America". She wrote almost 9000 Gospel Hymns, praying after each one that they would help win a million souls to the Lord. She gained no treasures in this life. Her treasures are stored up for her in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also..She could have lived comfortably off of her income, but Fanny "had other priorities and gave away anything that was not necessary to her daily survival". In 1874, Crosby was reported to be "living in a destitute condition". At one point Crosby moved to a "dismal flat" at 9 Frankfort Street, near one of Manhattan's worst slums in the Lower East side. Thereafter, she lived at several different addresses in and around Manhattan. In 1896, Crosby moved from Manhattan to an apartment in a poor section of Brooklyn, living with friends at South Third Street, Brooklyn. It is estimated that books containing her lyrics sold 100 million copies. However, "like many of the lyricists of the day, Crosby was exploited by copyright conventions that assigned rights not to the lyricist but to the composer of the music... Crosby was paid a flat fee of one or two dollars a hymn". In her 1906 autobiography, Crosby insisted she wrote her hymns "in a sanctified manner", and never for financial or commercial considerations, and that she had donated her royalties to "worthy causes". In 1880, aged 60, Crosby "made a new commitment to Christ to serve the poor" and to devote the rest of her life to home missionary work. She continued to live in a dismal flat at 9 Frankfort Street, near one of the worst slums in Manhattan, until about 1884. I pick this version as best because it's humble. No fancy dress or theatrics. Just a Church video on an amateur camera. Alison could have done an ace fiddle solo and upstaged the voices. But it distracts from the true Glory. I think the Lord would rather hear our voices raised up in praise than the noise from the work of our hands. And at 3:40 Alison gestures with her hands for the audience to join in, and the guitar finally goes silent. Jesus, keep me near the cross, There a precious fountain Free to all, a healing stream Flows from Calvary’s mountain. In the cross, in the cross, Be my glory ever; Till my raptured soul shall find Rest beyond the river. Near the cross, a trembling soul, Love and mercy found me; There the bright and morning star Sheds its beams around me. In the cross, in the cross, Be my glory ever; Till my raptured soul shall find Rest beyond the river. Near the cross! O Lamb of God, Bring its scenes before me; Help me walk from day to day, With its shadows o’er me. In the cross, in the cross, Be my glory ever; Till my raptured soul shall find Rest beyond the river. Near the cross I’ll watch and wait Hoping, trusting ever, Till I reach the golden strand, Just beyond the river. In the cross, in the cross, Be my glory ever; Till my raptured soul shall find Rest beyond the river. Peaceful Sabbath.

Nearer, My God, to Thee.Sarah Fuller Flower Adams. When i listen to a Gospel Hymn, i wonder if the Lord would like it, or what He would think about it. And i think He would like this one. But i don't know. I know that i do. I can't think of a more relevant Hymn for right now, for i think the Lord is at hand. I think Daniel 9 is a continuation of Daniel 8. So in Daniel 9 when it says: "Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice, it is talking about the "vision" in Daniel 8. Because there is no vision in Daniel 9. In Daniel 9 where it says: "Therefore, consider the word and understand the "vision", the "vision" is the one from the previous chapter. Gabriel had come to explain the vision from chapter 8 when Daniel fell ill and had to stop. 70 weeks are decreed, 70 weeks are "chathak". 70 weeks are cut-off. The 70 weeks are cut-off from the larger prophetic time period in the previous chapter. 490 years are cut off from the larger prophetic time period of 2300 years. What this means is that if the Artaxerxes decree of 457 BC is correct, we would find the completion of the 2300 years in 1844 AD. The two holy ones are speaking. The question is asked. How long is all this going to take. When will the vision be fulfilled. But they're not going to tell us. I think it was because they didn't want any of the early disciples to know when the end times would be. It would have broken their hearts if they thought it would be 2000 years before our Lord would return. So they answered the question in another way. First the sanctuary would need to be restored to it's rightful state. And that won't even begin to start until 1844 AD. The Heavenly day of atonement, when the blood is cleaned off of the horns of the Alter. But what does 1844 have to do with Sally Adams writing Nearer, my God, to Thee? What's the connection? I wonder what Sarah would have to say about all this business? She looks like she knows what's going on, but she's not going to tell. I suspect it was the music for the rider on a very fast horse. The rider with the scales in his hand, do not harm the oil or the wine, for it is judgement time. Jesus was making preparations for the building of His Church, one brick at a time, may the judgement of the dead begin. "Her hymn, "Nearer, my God! to Thee", was introduced to American Christians in the "Service Book," published (1844) by Rev. James Freeman Clarke, D.D., of Boston, Massachusetts, from where it was soon transferred to other collections. "Worn down by caring for her invalid sister, Adam's health gradually declined. She died on 14 August 1848 at the age of 43 and was buried beside her sister and parents in the Forest Street cemetery near Harlow.Nearer my God to Thee. Introduced to American Christians in 1844. I don't believe in coincidence. But there should certainly be at least two witnesses to settle a matter, shouldn't there be? Google 1844 and find the Wiki page: 1844
Edict of Toleration 1844
Scroll down and read about the Edict of Toleration of 1844 that allowed the Jews to settle back into the Holy Land. I kid you not. Edict of Toleration 1844
Prophetic interpretations[edit]
The Edict was seen by some especially among the religious as a specific sign leading towards the fulfillment of prophecy. Research conducted by Michael Sours[4] into this subject and the records of the development of the Edict did not refer directly to the Jews but rather infers religious tolerance through ending executions for apostasy for Jews that seemed to convert making their social situation easier while actually keeping their personal and group identity in their Judaic religion. Jerusalem has had the largest Jewish population in Palestine in recent centuries since about 1844[7] and been majority Jewish since about 1852.[8]"So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it..." My favorite version of the Hymn is by Mississippi John Hurt from the album DC Blues, recorded in the Library of Congress in Washington DC. Just John's guitar and vocal. A very sweet and humble version that a foot can tap along to. I don't think Sarah meant the song to be sad. She meant it to be about Jacob's Ladder and meeting God in our dreams. When i listen to it with the headphones, i can just make out someone tapping the table along with the music towards the end. I think the Lord would like John's humble and upbeat style. It makes me smile. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. So good. Peaceful Sabbath.

I never did marry and I never went far, I never bought a house or a big ole car But I ain't no beggar and I sure ain't dumb I'm just waitin' 'till the rapture come Waitin' 'till the rapture come. These guys crack me up. Newworldson
These guys are from the Niagara Falls area of Canada, St Catharines i think. So i don't think they are really that widely known. But these guys are musicians, for real. They make me think of the verse seek the Lord in your youth. "Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”— These guy rock it like the blues brothers. Gospel Music for musicians. Waiting Till The Rapture Come
Old man Jonah sittin' in his chair got no teeth and got no hair Got no daughter and got no son he's just waitin' 'till the rapture come Waitin' 'till the rapture come He never did marry and he never went far never bought a house or a big ole car But he ain't no beggar and he sure ain't dumb he's just waitin' 'till the rapture come Waitin' 'till the rapture come And when the rapture come the Lord's gonna call his name (When the rapture come) Jonah's gonna put down his cane (When the rapture come) Heaven's gonna take him away But until that day… Old man Jonah's got an old brass horn had it since the day that he was reborn But he ain't gonna blow for just anyone he's gonna wait 'till the rapture come Waitin' 'till the rapture come Preacher come a-walkin' down that country mile said 'hey Jonah, know it's been a while' But Jonah keep his eyes on the settin' sun he's just waitin' 'till the rapture come Waitin' 'till the rapture come Waitin' 'till the rapture come Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior
- Frances J. Crosby, 1868 Can't get far from Fanny Crosby. But i wonder what she would think of these guys's version? They go spooky crazy live. Like at 7:00 minutes in, the dude goes Pentecostal on the keyboard and uses it like a percussion device. He's standing up with the left hand holding the chair up, and the other hammering the keys. Still, i'm glad someone got this on video. Crazy Gospel for musicians. Pass me not, O gentle Savior, Hear my humble cry; While on others Thou art calling, Do not pass me by. Savior, Savior, Hear my humble cry, While on others Thou art calling, Do not pass me by. Let me at Thy throne of mercy Find a sweet relief; Kneeling there in deep contrition, Help my unbelief. Savior, Savior, Hear my humble cry, While on others Thou art calling, Do not pass me by. Trusting only in Thy merit, Would I seek Thy face; Heal my wounded, broken spirit, Save me by Thy grace. Savior, Savior, Hear my humble cry, While on others Thou art calling, Do not pass me by. Thou the spring of all my comfort, More than life to me, Whom have I on earth beside Thee, Whom in Heav’n but Thee. Savior, Savior, Hear my humble cry, While on others Thou art calling, Do not pass me by.

Be Thou My Vision Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight; - Dallán ForgaillI love those lines. Be thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight. They are attributed to Dallán Forgaill, 530 – 598 AD. So that is VERY Old Irish Gospel. "In 598 Dallan was visiting his friend Saint Conall Cael at his monastery on Inishkeel when pirates raided the island monastery. Dallan was reportedly beheaded, and it is said that God reattached his head to his body after he was martyred.[11] He was buried on Iniskeel; his friend Canall Cael was later laid to rest in the same grave.[9] "He was acclaimed a saint in the early 11th century, during the reign of the High King of Ireland Máel Sechnaill mac Domnaill but was already listed as a saint in the earlier 9th century martyrologies compiled by Óengus of Tallaght.[4] A medieval poem entitled "On the breaking up of a School" composed by Tadhg Og O Huiginn, c.1400, refers to the death of Dallán which caused his school to break up and the students to disperse as they would accept no other master.[12] In a list of ancient Irish authors contained in the Book of Ballymote, Dallán is called “grandson of testimony”.[13] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dall%C3%A1n_ForgaillIt's interesting to scroll down to the bottom of this Wiki page to see how many times the Hymn has been translated. Remarkable. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Be_Thou_My_VisionMy favorite is this Alison Krauss live version. Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart; Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art; Thou my best Thought, by day or by night, Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light. Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word; I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord; Thou my great Father, I Thy true son; Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one. Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight; Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight; Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tow’r: Raise Thou me heav’nward, O Pow’r of my pow’r. Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise, Thou mine Inheritance, now and always: Thou and Thou only, first in my heart, High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art. High King of Heaven, my victory won, May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heav’n’s Sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all. And this Noniko Hsu version. She looks like she knows what she's doing when she steps out on those boards. On a Peaceful Sabbath.

"What have I to dread, what have I to fear. Leaning on the everlasting arms; "I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning on the Everlasting ArmsPublished in 1887 with music by Anthony J. Showalter and lyrics by Showalter and Elisha Hoffman. Showalter said that he received letters from two of his former pupils saying that their wives had died. When writing letters of consolation, Showalter was inspired by the phrase in the Book of Deuteronomy 33:27, "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leaning_on_the_Everlasting_ArmsI love this hymn. I love the way Iris Dement sings it. All the hymns posted by the user beanscot at Youtube i think are excellent. What a great cloud of witnesses, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms. What a fellowship, what a joy divine, Leaning on the everlasting arms; What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning, leaning, Safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Oh, how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way, Leaning on the everlasting arms; Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning, leaning, Safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, Leaning on the everlasting arms. What have I to dread, what have I to fear, Leaning on the everlasting arms; I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning, leaning, Safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Songwriters: Elisha A. Hoffman / Cyril A. Mclellan / A Showalter I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, On a peaceful Sabbath.

I love that song! Iris Dement's version is my favorite (she's a solid Christian and was tapped to reprise it for True Grit). I do too Gary. I like Iris' voice. Her Arkansas accent is quite recognizable. And i also can tell she's a solid Christian from her "Our Town" CD from back in the day. I only figured out that they used her version from True Grit when i saw the YouTube videos with the girl actor sitting on the horse. I haven't had a TV since 2006, or been out to the movies. I found the Iris version when looking at the videos from the user beanscot on YouTube. I also like this one by Iris. It grew on me after awhile. I didn't really like it that much when i first heard it, then i found myself humming it while driving home from work. It's the upbeat kind of celebratory Gospel music that when i hear while driving down the road, makes me want to put the peddle down to the metal. I like to cast my crown at His feet with tears of joy kind of thing. Fill My Way With LoveLet me walk, blessed Lord, in the way Thou hast gone Leading straight to that land above; Giving cheer everywhere to the sad and the lone Fill my way every day with love Fill my way every day with love As I walk with the heavenly Dove; Let me go all the while with a song and a smile Fill my way every day with love Keep me close to the side of my Saviour and guide Let me never in darkness rove; Keep my path free from wrath and my soul satisfied Fill my way every day with love Fill my way every day with love As I walk with the heavenly Dove; Let me go all the while with a song and a smile Fill my way every day with love Soon this race will be o'er and I'll travel no more But abide in my home above; Let me sing, blessed King, all the way to that shore Fill my way every day with love - George W. Sebren. March 8, 1882--January 26, 1940. "Keep me close to the side, Of my Saviour and guide. Peaceful Sabbath.

Maitland:
Take My Hand, Precious Lord
"Take My Hand, Precious Lord" (a.k.a. "Precious Lord, Take My Hand") is a gospel song. The lyrics were written by the Rev. Thomas A. Dorsey, who also adapted the melody.
The melody is credited to Dorsey, drawn extensively from the 1844 hymn tune, "Maitland".
Dorsey wrote "Precious Lord" in response to his inconsolable bereavement at the death of his wife, Nettie Harper, in childbirth, and his infant son in August 1932.
Blind Connie Williams.
Hank Williams.
Doc Watson. (who was blind)
Connie Williams was a street musician. I'm sure that the tribulations in this life will not compare with his treasures that await him. This rare footage of Connie keeps disappearing from the net.
I love the Hank Williams version. He plays it like a celebration. Like a rock song.
Doc Watson's Delta Blues style.
Such a great cloud of witnesses, More than i deserve.

As in the Days of Noah.
I'm watching this video, like three hours long, and they used music from this woman i never heard of. I found it spooky. A little strange, like art. Like that Salvador Dali painting with the melting clocks. It reminds me of the dream i had with a clock in the sky. Just a simple black clock in the sky with a white face and black markings.
Lucky for me the video listed ALL of it's: CREDITS TO OWNERS FOR FAIR USE COPYRIGHT LAWS.
That is sweet because i'll add Misty to my list of most favorite eclectic, or maybe almost avant-garde, worship artists. She sure seems advanced, or in the fore-guard. She used that old rhyme like it was going to be: "rain rain go away, come back again some other day. But instead she goes:
"rain rain go away, hide me from the wrath of the Lamb.
If you test this video, i recommend to stop it when Misty's part is over when the four horsemen come up. It should begin where her part starts.
And this live version is spooky too, goosebumps style. Her Pastor comes on and does some kind of a spoken vocal, he was plenty spooky too. It makes me glad i didn't have too much coffee today, and then it goes on into another piece.
And i'm thankful to find Misty Edwards today, and that she should be added to such a great cloud of witnesses.
On an otherwise Peaceful Sabbath Evening.
(I still didn't watch the three hour video yet)

More Misty. Misty Edwards at the IHOP.So i'm looking around for more Misty Edwards music and i keep seeing these videos of her playing at this place where people seem not always to be paying attention to her. The place looks a bit like a church but with more comfortable seats and tables with chairs at the sides. The people will seem to be looking down at laptops, reading their Bibles, sitting on the floor doing paperwork or bent over with their heads hanging down. And then i figured it out. Misty is playing at the IHOP. Not the International House of Pancakes, but the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. The International House of Prayer in Kansas City is a place where Christians can go to be together 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since 1999. How cool is that? I never heard of it before. Imagine an assembly that never closes it's doors. They have a "night watch: NightWatch MissionStanding by Night in the House of the Lord The call to the NightWatch is a call to extravagant devotion. It is the Lord’s desire to raise up a people who will love Him in the night. On the night of Jesus’ betrayal, the hour of judgment and salvation, He found no one to stand with Him. But in the final hours of history—the time of escalated judgment and salvation—who will tarry with Him through the night? The NightWatch mandate, with a special blessing, is found in Psalm 134: “Behold, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who by night stand in the house of the Lord! Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord. The Lord who made heaven and earth bless you from Zion!” We receive the blessing that the Lord promises those who stand in His house through the night. www.ihopkc.org/prayerroom/nightwatch/And i love all of Misty's music, she's the best. It's as if i've heard every note she does hundreds of times before like old favorites, and i've only found her last week. I picked a couple of her worship sessions that i like the most. I know that they're long, some are two hours long, but try to watch this one for the first 10 minutes. And check out all the different people sitting around at this IHOP place. It would be a blast to hang out at a place like this with you guys. This first one would be great to play on a continuous loop. I can leave some of these playing constantly. Download it to MP4 and play it while doing work around the house or a brake job on the dodge. The second tune at about 8 minutes in is based on Jesus' prayer in John. I in them, You in me. That we may be Made perfect in One This one is even longer. I recommend from 13:35 to the 17:30. I find it almost as fascinating to see all of the various people as as i do hearing Misty's session. What is that woman doing walking back and forth up and down the aisle? But check out the emotion on Misty's face at 17:30. It sounds bluesy. It reminds me of: "And they said to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb. "Where could I run to, where could i hide? "Your love has made an everlasting mark on my life. www.ihopkc.org/Peaceful Sabbath

I little over two years ago, the worship leader at the church I was going to left to take a different position at a different church. The guy that took over had a friend that would come visit and helped him lead music and "worship" nights. This friend was from IHOP. So, because I had been seeing a change in the music we were singing (see the thread on Jesus Culture, etc for more of the story), I looked into IHOP. It's not good.

So, because I had been seeing a change in the music we were singing (see the thread on Jesus Culture, etc for more of the story), I looked into IHOP. It's not good.
I was actually surprised to see the got questions article on the IHOP. And i'm skeptical of it, the got question article that is. I don't know why i'm skeptical of it. I don't know too much about Mike Bickle. But that he rhymes with a pickle. And his Wiki page says that he's not in one, a pickle that is. They were sued by the International House of Pancakes for trademark dilution and infringement. I trust Wiki at certain times to be more unbiased than got questions. Could got questions be jealous of the IHOP ? Pancakes and pickles is making me hungry. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_House_of_PrayerAnd i don't know anything about Mike Bickle's eschatology. But watch those videos first, look at the people praying in the room, and make up your own mind. They are not trying to tell us to DO anything. Mike Bickle isn't telling any of those people walking in there what to pray or how to pray. He's not even telling anyone to have a peaceful Sabbath like i usually do on Friday sundown and into Saturday. The cameras are panning around 24/7 at the IHOP. They have nothing to hide in that room. The people have their heads down and are praying quietly like i do. Some are old and others young. Some of them are chewing gum and doing what looks like homework. But they're all gathered together in Jesus' Name. And you know what they say, whenever two or more are gathered in His Name? And i've been listening to Misty Edwards videos ALL week. She was at the IHOP from it's beginning. I don't think she would stay there if there were problems. I trust her judgement based on her materials. I think she got a head start on me with the Bible stuff. Or i might be too easily brainwashed already. All it took was a pretty face, a pretty voice. I might be a part of the cult. Me and Sid Roth. More guys to google. Where we stop nobody knows. Peaceful Sabbath
