I have not heard any name being suggested other than the current Pope but not everyone is dogmatic that he must be the one, it's just that there are no other suggestions. One source suggested there were obvious clues that it would be the Pope of the time (whether Francis or otherwise). Another ruled out Francis because he denies miracles and the FP works miracles but didn't suggest an alternative. I personally think that Francis ticks the boxes however, he's got a massive following among the church and will be even more influential when most of his detractors are gone (some make out that he's the best thing to happen to the church since Jesus, although conversely he is angering some Catholic conservatives). The FP masterminds the uniting of the world's religions and therefore must be thought highly of by "Christians." Anyway does anyone seriously think there are other possibilities? It's interesting to compare to the AC who has many candidates and some think he might be someone currently unknown, or extra-terrestrial/demon or someone from the past raised back to life by Satan. But if the AC can suddenly appear on the scene can the FP? I would think no, the FP points people to the AC and it would be difficult to suck in anyone if he was a "nobody." If he's not the Pope (which seems unlikely) I would say that the Pope is definitely doing the groundwork for him to build on. An interesting contrast between the FP and the AC is that the rest of the world is aware that we talk about the AC (you might read headlines saying stuff like "Religious fundamentalists claim Obama is the Anti-Christ" (made up but you get the idea)) while the False Prophet is a detail they miss, just like they mock us for talking about "the end of the world" or "the coming apocalypse" without looking into the details of what we believe.

I'm terribly reluctant to post a name, but I've been quite shocked to see churches throw out Biblical teachings to instead follow one very popular leader. He urges pastors to not teach anything about hell or judgment, but to only teach the "happy" verses, and built his church based upon the results of marketing surveys. He also urges churches to take down their crosses, citing that the cross offends some people. Now that he has become very popular, I'm told (through the Church of Tares video) that he has been telling his church members to celebrate islamic holidays at mosques. It seems that he really wants to blend Christianity with islam, and has publicly prayed in the name of Ishi, which is the islamic name of Yeshua. I feel a pretty strong revulsion, that if the coming world leader were to appear on the scene, this guy is waiting in the wings to be the false prophet.

The muslims believe a future prophet (the 12th prophet) is coming. It is certainly plausible that the islamic prophet could be the AC.

New here, so greetings to all, I will not go with a name, I will just go with who he has to be and a forerunner of sorts. He has to be a Jew (probably a High Priest) because he comes out of the earth/land instead of the Sea. The Anti-Christ had a forerunner in Antiochus Epiphanes, and I think Jason (real name Yeshua) was the forerunner of the False Prophet. He paid Antiochus to have his Pious brother Onias III killed, where he could get appointed High Priest, then he went about Hellenizing the Jews (thus the name change by him to Jason). I think the False Prophet will of course likewise betray his people unto the coming Beast/Anti-Christ.

Well.... Obama just gave an interesting speech a few days ago at the University of Illinois @54m31s: [Points to Heaven]... ... You can not sit back and wait for a savior...( eyes look up) @54m56s: We don't need a messiah... all we need are decent, honest, hardworking people...

Philippians 3:20 "For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ"

The word "Vatican" is a form of the word prophet as it comes from "vatic" meaning prophet or prophesy.

The false prophet is head of the religious system, which I think will be the Roman Catholic Church. So the false prophet must be a pope! Either Pope Francis or some new pope that takes his place.

Venge, that is so funny! On another note, there appear to be multiple false prophets. While it is true Francis is one and this is proved with the 666 being reduced by 400 (a number for the Savor) providing a remainder of 266 that according to the Catholic Church is the number of the current church government. We also have the false prophet in Iran that according to schooldad is the second leg in the leg of iron that is referenced in Neb's dream. So there are two of the false prophets. However, I have known that someone in the nation state of Israel must consent to the peace treaty that causes the fall of Jerusalem. Correct me if I am wrong on that, but "that" someone must be a powerful religious leader, thus a false Jewish prophet, just as rondon has mentioned. About the number 400 as a number of the Savior. John sets this number to represent the true church of Christ; however, the vile imposers begin there and add to it. Thus, according to them the current church government is 266 and added to the true number representing Christ then the number now, according to John, as it represents the false prophet, is 666, and that is Francis. However, there must be a secondary reference in Rev. 13:18 that is to the dog in Iran and perhaps a third reference in that verse to the wicked Jewish false prophet. Other numbers of "4" are: the 4 gospels, the 4 angels, the 4 horsemen, etc. Other numbers of "40" are: it rained 40 days at Noah's Ark, Moses wondered with Israel for 40 years, Lord Jesus fasted for 40 days, etc. Other numbers of "400" are: Israel was in Egypt 400 years, the Americas (metaphorical Egypt) are populated with a new gathering of immigrants (some are of Israel) for 400 years, etc. Other numbers of "4,000" are: Lord Jesus was born after 4,000 years of man upon the earth, and I can't think of another one, etc.
