Blessed day to all my brothers and sisters! I have quietly followed all these threads and loved every input. A question I had in reading my QT this am, in Luke 23:53. How did Joseph of Arimathea physically extract Jesus from the cross? HE was still nailed. Please forgive me if I placed this question in the wrong thread. Thank you so much for answering!

I always assumed the Roman guards/soldiers took Him down. They would want to make sure He was dead.
(And welcome to Unsealed!)

Matt 27:57 may help. Joseph went to Pilate and begged for Jesus body. He may have had the soldiers take Him down

I know that you're not new anymore, but I haven't had a chance to say welcome to the forum. ;-)
This post of mike is the most plausible. It really doesn't say, but we know from Historians and Archaeologists, that in the first century, all the nails were hand-forged and re-used.
It makes sense that Pilate would have had the soldiers do this, as they would know how to do this, and then not destroy the nails and of course they re-used the beams for crucifixions as it was a common method of death/torture used in that time. ;-)
