There has just been another mass shooting, this time at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Texas. Out of about 50 in attendance, 27 were killed and many more injured. This is just horrific. We need to pray for this church and for the injured.

Thank you for starting a thread about this, linda! What a tragic situation! Has there been any news about the shooter? Was this an Islamic terror attack, or was there another reason behind it?

So sad. Not that I like anything to happen to believers, but hopefully this will wake up some as to the time we are living in.

whatif, I'm just hearing bits and pieces on Twitter and a conservative site. They say the shooter was a 21 year old white male from outside the area dressed in full protective gear. So he wasn't a muslim, unless he converted, which could be the case. He escaped in a car and was shot by pursuing police. They're not giving out much more information. Except I did hear that the latest is 27 dead, one a 2 year old child, and 25 injured. That's basically the whole church. That's about the size of my church, so it kind of hits close to home.

I'm so saddened by this. There have been some "reports" of this young man converting to Islam. Needless to say I am mourning with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Hear our prayers Lord Jesus, Maranatha!!!  |

Mike, I've just seen a couple reports saying that he was Antifa. Both could be correct. Also, the minister and his wife were out of town, but their 14 year old daughter was shot and killed. What a horrible thing for that pastor to come home to.

My son saw this on the news this morning. He's 11. So, we have had some discussions off and on today about why we have guns and knives and how sin can take something useful (like a gun for hunting food for a family) and use it for evil. Two years ago we were involved in an incident where a young man attempted to harm children in a homeschool group we were in. So thankful that he had knives and not a gun or it would have been a very different outcome. This evil can happen anywhere.
Seems more details are coming to light. He sent threatening texts to his mother-in-law and his wife's grandmother was killed in the attack. The MIL was not at church that morning.
One family lost 9 people spanning three generations (it seems the news is not counting the unborn baby) I can't imagine the sorrow.
