I am using KJV.
I tried to respond this morning and ran out of time. However, as the day wore on and I was thinking about this topic, it seemed reasonable to examine the false godhead as defined in the Book of Revelation. This false godhead has three members, each of which will be "cast into the lake of fire and brimstone" as stated in Rev. 20:10. This false godhead is also referenced in Rev. 16:13 wherein they are metaphorically called "frogs" meaning false gods. From this verse you can see that there is the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. In fact the beast and false prophet are likewise referenced in Rev. 19:20 that states "the beast was taken and with him the false prophet." From this you can see that the beast spoken of is one individual.
An additional reference to the false godhead is Rev. 9:17-19 wherein they are called plagues. Notice that these three are "fire," and "jacinth" (referencing the great millstone in Rev. 18:21), and lastly "brimstone." Secondly these three are stated to have out of their mouths "fire and smoke and brimstone." Third, the metaphorical reference is again stated, that "by these three was the third part of men killed; by fire, and by smoke, and by brimstone."
From the above verse it should be easy to see that the dragon is the "fire," the beast that is a man is the "smoke," and the false prophet is the "brimstone." From this example the following verses can be applied to wit:
1) The dragon is the power of the false godhead (Rev. 13:2) that gives power to the beast.
The dragon gives the beast his seat as the false christ of the world.
The dragon provides the beast with his great authority that is the false prophet (Rev. 13:11).
2) The beast is the smoke of Rev. 9:2 that conducts himself as the dragon by virtue of the dragon giving power unto him as stated in item 1. This beast acts as if he is the Christ; that is the great furnace in this verse. Thus, "there arose a smoke (the beast) out of the pit (of mankind) as the smoke (beast) of a Great Furnace (Christ)." I guess the beast is doing his part in unwittingly serving the true Christ to hasten his return. I have looked at this verse several times and have concluded that Christ is our refining fire and thus our Great Furnace.
3) Lastly is the false prophet is the brimstone and this is mentioned in Rev. 13:13 in which he causes fire to come down from heaven. Not as a God brings fire from heaven, but in a manner that a false god brings fire from heaven and that is nuclear weapons. Another interesting thought is that since fire is the dragon and the fire is coming down from heaven then the nuclear weapons are sent at Rev. 9:1 corresponding to Verse 13:13.
If this is correct then the Chapter 13 verses prior to Verse 13:13 harmonize with Chapter 6.
