Before anyone gets an idea that this topic is going to be discussed in this thread, WRONG I used the title to draw attention to the point I want to make. If you haven't seen the clip where she makes the comments here's a link. Please watch the minute or two before reading my point. Kelly's "argument" was "how is it racist ... to dress up for Halloween. The clip goes on to show how Ms. Kelly forgot the history behind blackface It interests me and causes me to be a bit "righteously indignant" when the story turns to history. How many statues have been torn down over the last few years? Isn't that history? More importantly what about the history of God creating this world and everything in it? Why is it that we don't bring the history of the Bible? What about the history of Noah and the ark, saving only eight, reforming the world? Or a guy named Moses, everyone knows him, yet we forget about what the God of the Hebrews did to them and for them? Or the Son He sent to remind us how much He desires to show His great love for us? God forgive us of our sin, self-righteousness, transgression and horrible iniquities! Maranatha! Come quickly!

Mike, your link just re-links this thread, so I couldn't read what you are pointing to, but I understand what you are saying. However, to address the topic in your subject directly...
I don't celebrate Halloween now. But when the wife and I were youngsters, we really got into doing elaborate costumes and going to a Halloween party or two. One time, almost 30 years ago, I wanted to see if I could keep my friends from knowing who I was by devising the ultimate costume. I created a character...a very old, very poor, disheveled southern black man. Shaved my beard and mustache down to stubble, did black makeup on all exposed skin, hair silvered, rumpled, mismatched clothes, drastically changed my voice, my walk and mannerisms, smoked a cigar all night...the whole 9 yards. And it worked! Before leaving the house I went upstairs to show our kids. When they saw me walk into their room, it scared the daylights out of them! They started screaming, because they thought I was a stranger. And no one at the party could tell who I was for the entire night. By the end of the night I had to tell people.
There was nothing RACIST whatsoever in what I did here. No one there, even the black people attending, were offended. It was a costume. And a darn good one! It was all in good fun. But if I did it today, I'd probably risk losing my friends,my job, my standing in the community, etc.
There was nothing RACIST whatsoever in what Megyn Kelly said. I don't think for a second that she meant anything more than relating a story like mine above. I'm so sick to death of Political Correctness, where everyone gets butt hurt because of WORDS. People need to grow some thicker skin and quit being offended by every little thing that is said. It's a desperate cry for attention and it is pathetic. Racism is a real thing, but the vast majority of what people are calling "racist" is nothing of the sort.
We all have different life experiences. Some good, some bad. Injustices have occurred. Some have been righted, some have yet to be. But why are we so shallow these days? Everybody wants their 15 minutes of fame, a Go-Fund-Me effort, recognition of how they've been hurt...restitution. Well, it's just selfish, self-aggrandizing, self-righteous and personally, I think it's PRIDEFUL and evil. At the end of the day, we are all filthy, sinful people. No one is better than anyone else regardless of your race or life experiences.
I hope Megyn sues NBC for wrongful dismissal. If she does, and she wins, maybe the snowflakes in our society will stop being so butt hurt over everything someone says and political correctness will take a stake to the heart.
Romans 12:3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
Political Correctness is an evil thing. KILL it whenever you see/hear it.
My .02
[EDIT: Meanwhile, the NBC exec. who fired her ignored the sexual harassment of females @ NBC for years. Disgusting.]

I totally agree, Mike (and Fitz, I agree with you too : ) My mom is part native and on Columbus Day almost all of our native relatives were busy wishing everyone a happy indigenous peoples day. For pete's sake. I read an interesting article right around then about how Columbus believed that in addition to being on a voyage of discovery he was also to spread his faith, and he strictly forbid his men to take advantage of the native peoples in any way. Our history is what it is, and if we rewrite it, we'll never learn from it. EDIT...come to think of it, I think I missed your point too, Mike!
